Reading the Auction in Real Time
A real example of how to analyze current ES and NQ auctions, identify key references, and prepare a structured plan before the session begins.
If you’re new to Market Profile, take some time to go through our earlier posts:
This one is a long one so, lets get started….
So far in this series we’ve focused on concepts.
We discussed the auction process, how profiles form, how to identify participation, and how sessions relate to one another.
But trading happens in real time.
Every morning the question becomes practical:
Where is the market within the larger auction right now?
In this post, we’ll move from theory to application. We’ll look at the current market structure in ES and NQ using composite profiles, identify the key references, and build a framework for the upcoming session.
The goal isn’t to predict the day.
It’s to understand the landscape of the auction before trading begins.
As I’m writing this on Monday pre-market, the futures market has just reopened and the new week is beginning to take shape. I’ll walk through the current structure and how I’m preparing for the week ahead, and I’ll share a follow-up post either mid-week or end-of-week to review how the auction actually unfolded.
